The Walden Property Owners Association in the Preserve at Walden actively works to maintain the quality of the area. Annual dues are collected every January. The responsibilities of the Walden HOA include architectural control (ACC) and to uphold the convenants. Members of the ACC review all building plans, fences, landscape plans, and exterior colors.

Monument is located in the middle of the Tri-Lakes area. It is bordered by the mountains and Palmer Lake to the west, southern Douglas County and Larkspur to the north, Black Forest to the east, and Gleneagle and the Air Force Academy to the south.
The average high temperatures in the summer reach 85 degrees Fahrenheit, while the average winter low temperature is 12 degrees. Monument gets about 100 inches of snowfall a year; however, warm sunny days are not uncommon in the middle of winter.

The History of Monument
Monument’s first homesteaders arrived in 1865 to mark out the town’s preliminary shape. Incorporated in 1879, it was first called Henry’s Station, after Henry Limbach, one of the original settlers. Its name was changed to Monument when the Denver & Rio Grande railroad came through after the Civil War in 1870 linking Denver and Colorado Springs. Today, Monument’s historic district still reflects an era of bygone days with its small-town character.

Lori and I love our new house, lot and living in Walden. We are close enough to everything we need, but can come home to quiet, wonderful views and Colorado living. From our deck we can see Pike’s Peak, the Rocky Mountains to the North and a beautiful pond. We searched the area for over a year and Walden was our favorite!
